On A Treadmill
With the rainy weather this past week, I didn't get much chance to jog around the neighborhood. In lieu of this, I've taken up running on a treadmill at the gym. Surely, the sights were much less interesting, the air a lot more stale, and the whirling sounds of the treadmills did not add to the excitement. Oh, but I get spoiled so easily... I love the fact that by just holding onto the bar in front of me I could get my heart rate. Also, with a treadmill, I get to know exactly how far I've run and how fast I've run.
I do no more than 2 miles and keep my pace just slightly faster than a walk. I do not want to burn myself out this early in my training. Even with my slow pace, the last time I ran my left ankle hurt a bit - not a throbbing pain, just a slight discomfort on the joints. I hope it's not a chronic condition because it's one thing to jog for two miles on a flat even rubber belt – it’s another thing to run in an actual triathlon.
